My husband and I stayed at the Dream Inn on our wedding night. The hotel was wonderful. They allowed us to check-in early so the guys could get ready. When we returned that later that evening we enjoyed sitting on the balcony overlooking the beach and ocean and listening to the waves crash. We couldn't have asked for more. In the morning we ordered room service, sat on the balcony eating breakfast in complimentary robes enjoying the view. Our stay was short but I'd highly recommend to friends and family from out of town. It's the perfect location to the wharf, boardwalk, and West Cliff Drive. I would have loved to enjoy the swimming pool or go for a walk on the beach but we had to get off to our post-wedding luncheon.

What an awesome place. Looked at the photos and it looked nice. Had heard the same through word of mouth, but I was blown by cool this property is. There is a bit of mod decor that I wasn't crazy about, but on the whole I loved this hotel's style. Everything is very cool, but also comfortable and understated. However, the real selling point for this place is THE VIEW. I checked into my room and was furious with myself for not getting to the hotel until 10pm. It still looked great from my balcony though with the harbor lit up, but I wish I had spent more time there. Definitely want to come back again so I take advantage of the pools and the restaurant. I was nosey and took a look at both and they looked very impressive. This has to be the best place in Santa Cruz.

Our family had never stayed in Santa Cruz before, and since we were traveling with small children, we thought staying on the beach would be the most conveninent - the Dream Inn's location was great, staff very friendly, and the decor was very clean, comfortable and really hip - we loved it. The pool area was great, with a pool, hot tub, and small kiddie pool, and being right on the beach with walking access right next to the wharf and the boardwalk - we had a great stay.

We had a very nice stay at the Dream Inn. The staff was great, the room was clean and the view from the balcony was awesome. The only complaint I have is the doors tend to slam shut. We could hear everyone leaving their rooms by the loud noise.

The DreamInn was quirky, cute, and provided fantastic service. The location was perfect for us. I (49 yr old mom) and my energetic wheelchair bound 5 year old went to Santa Cruz for the surf competition. We stayed at the DreamInn for 3 nights (four days). It has been decorated in a 60s retro style, which fits the town well. The restaurant is not open, and does not look close to opening, but we used room service twice a day and the food was great (obviously homemade, local produce, heirloom tomatoes). Food arrived within a half hour and was hot and fresh. All rooms look have sensational ocean views. You see the pier to the right and surfers to the left, and look across the water to Monteray. If you have kids, opt for the first floor because the balconies give access to the pool area: lovely for the youngsters to burn off extra energy in. The location made it easy to walk everywhere (we did not have a car). The surf shops and pier are next door, and there are surf lessons and board rentals available. There is a small hill, but even pushing my son, that was no trouble. The pool area has stairs down to the beach. The surfers are about a half mile north, but it is a flat walk with beautiful outlooks with benches spaced out over the entire walk. We went downtown most evenings. Downtown is about a mile away, all downhill or flat, and I did opt to take a cab back. If you did not have a youngster in a chair, walking back would be easy also. I prefer to take shorter vacations at nicer resorts, and was unsure if we would be happy with the DreamInn. No worrys...it was great!
