We (my wife, my two young kids and me) stayed for Friday and Saturday nights in June 2010. The room was quite nice. There have obviously been some extensive renovations done recently. We found nice, clean carpet and bedspreads, granite countertops and bathtub walls, tile floor in the bathroom, internet, wonderful hot breakfast spread with fresh fruit and fresh waffles, and lots more. We wouldn't hesitate to stay here again. It's located within 50 yards of a number of other hotels, but less expensive. On the downside, the parking is somewhat lacking for larger vehicles. Almost every parking space is designated for a compact car. Staff seemed helpful and friendly. We had no problems or concerns, whatsoever.

They checked us into a room that was above their registration desk-needless to say, it was very loud. On one side of the room was the sound from cars parking to register and the other side of the room was the freeway entrance. Needless to say the bathroom was in the worst shape possible. The caulking in the tub area was done in a manner where the age of the bathroom was very evident-old! Their bathroom/tub area caulking was of the thick (2 inch) white tape-very tacky! The room was very dark and had a musty smell and again, very loud!!! If you need to sleep - this is not the place at all! I know my family and I will be visiting Santa Cruz a lot in the next few years but, we will never stay at this cheap motel ever again!

Staff was helpful. Area seemed safe. We saw a couple of homeless people down the block. Did not have directions ahead of time, so got lost. Once we knew the location, easy to get to. Small pool, but fun. Good breakfast. Clean bedding. Comfy beds. Bathroom small. The waste hauler truck came on 2 of the nights we stayed, and was quite loud in the process of emptying the garbage bin. Enjoyed the area.

This location is very nice. However, the water pressure in the showers was very low. Other than that, this hotel would have received an "excellent" rating from me - instead received a "good" rating.
